Cobra Viper (version 16) was released with the third wave of single packs in 2008 celebrating the 25th Anniversary of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero.

Cobra Viper (version 16) was rereleased with the seventh wave of comic packs in 2008. The pack also included Iron Grenadier (v6) and a reprint of issue 86 of the Marvel series.

Variations:

Cobra Viper was carded in two ways: first on a card that emphasized the 25th Anniversary of G.I. Joe, and then on a card that emphasized the G.I. Joe cartoon.

The comic pack release of Cobra Viper did not include silver paint on the boots.

Additionally, the comic pack release of Cobra Viper came with a backpack without red paint.
