Serpentor's Filecard

Figure Description:

Serpentor was first available as part of the fifth series (1986), packaged exclusively with the Air Chariot. He was also sold in 1987, then was discontinued domestically in 1988.

He was also available in 1990, 1992, and 1993 as a mail-in offer from Hasbro Direct.

Versions of Serpentor:

Accessories:

Serpentor came with a gold snake shield worn as a backpack, a silver dagger, a gold snake, and a green cape.

The snake sometimes came in other colors [See VARIATIONS below]. In addition, some mail-in versions of Serpentor did not come with a cape.

Variations:

[Click above image for larger version]

Some versions of Serpentor came with differently colored snakes. Pictured above are various versions of the snakes - opaque gold, translucent brown, translucent green, and mixtures of all three colors. The most common version is the gold snake pictured at the far left.

It should also be noted that the versions that are more brown in color are also more transparent and have less of a metallic look to them. At the same time, several samples that at first appear to be mostly brown appear to be more green when held up to a light.

The mail-in version of Serpentor has several differences. The most notable of those differences are the date stamp (MADE IN CHINA as opposed to the store version's MADE IN HONG KONG), the seperated chin, and the curled chest tails pictured above left.

In addition, some mail-in versions of Serpentor came with multiple daggers but no cape.

Body Construction:

Serpentor's body is completely original - all new body parts.

The entire mold was re-used in 2002 to create Serpentor (v2).
