Street Fighter: The Movie
Street Fighter, the 1994 film based on the popular Capcom video game, starred Jean-Claude Van Damme as Guile, Raul Julia as M. Bison, and Ming Na Wen as Chun-Li. Written and directed by action film super-scribe Steven E. DeSouza, the film was a complete bomb during the 1994 holiday season.
As a tie-in with the film, Hasbro used the older Street Fighter 2 figure molds (released in 1993 as part of the G.I.Joe line) and some other G.I.Joe molds to create a line of "Offical Movie Fighters". These figures had no reference to G.I.Joe anywhere on the cards, packaging, or in their promotion.
All of the Street Fighter Movie figures differ from the Street Fighter 2 versions. Some are only slight repainting - such as Dhalsim or Ken Masters. Others involve massive reworking, such as Blanka. Several of the Guile figures re-used classic G.I.Joe bodies.
The figures are not considered G.I.Joe figures, and they should not be confused with their Street Fighter 2 counterparts (which ARE part of the G.I.Joe line). The "movie fighters" probably should be thought of as close cousins to the G.I.Joe line.
