Hasbro Original Art: Crusader
Once a decision was made that a particular figure would be produced, artwork was designed for the packaging. Usually, two pen-ink renditions would be created - one would be discarded, the other would be used to create the painted artwork that appeared on the packaging.
Pictured above is a reprint of the pen-ink art that was used for the 1989 Crusader Space Shuttle.
Note that the actual box-art depicted Payload. He is also depicted here, but for some reason, he has been covered up with white tape. For some reason, Hasbro needed an image of the vehicle only - sans action figure.
