Through G.I.Joe's history, there were many promotions, sweepstakes, and contests. In late 1985, one of the more memorable ones was launched - the Triple Win Game. Backed with a national commercial, specially marked action figures and playsets came with a Triple Win gamepiece.

The point of the Triple-Win game was to scratch off the three chances to win prizes - thus, the name "triple-win". In addition, each game piece came with a sticker.
