Sgt. Slaughter

Description:
Pictured above is an early version of Sgt.
Slaughter (1985) as the figure appeared in the 1987 yearly insert
catalog. While the figure is being used to advertise Sgt.
Slaughter v2 (1986), it is clear that the prototype was created
for the original mail-in version. The most notable difference is the
fact that this version does not have a ball joint used for his neck.
Also, his shirt is cut higher and as a result the whistle around his
neck hangs over it.

When this prototype appeared a year earlier in the 1986 catalog, the
image was airbrushed to turn his green "USA" tank top plain
black to match the second figure.
