Action figures usually start as "Hard Copies". These models are used to create the molds, that are used to press out a run of "First shots" or "Test shots". These test shots are done in many different colors and lack a date stamp until the production run begins.

Pictured above is a test shot of Barricade (1992). His body is molded in several colors, the head is in tan, and the entire figure is unpainted. There is no date stamp on the figure.

Pictured above is and early version of Barricade (1992) as the figure appeared in a Hasbro product catalog. The produced version was very similar, but this one has a missile that fits closer into the launcher and lacks the red details on the helmet.
