Volga/Daina

Description:

Pictured above is a handpainted prototype of Volga (1998) both before and after being painted. Originally named Daina after the Oktober Guard comic book character, Volga was based on a customized Daina figure created by collector Thomas Wheeler. The prototype above was also painted by Wheeler at the request of Hasbro. For unknown reasons, when the figure was finally released, the paint scheme was changed considerably. The most notable difference was the change of the hair color from Daina's blonde to a shade of red instead. While the name Daina had to be changed for copyright purposes, it was retained as the file name on Volga's filecard, also written by Wheeler.
