BelgiumLike most Western European countries in the early 1980s, Palitoy sold Action Force toys in Belgium. The earliest Action Force toys were entirely original, while later Action Force toys were exclusive repaints of American figures. By 1987, the term "Action Force" was dropped, Palitoy ceased to make toys, and Hasbro began to sell "G.I.Joe" toys in Belgium. All Action Force and G.I.Joe toys sold in Belgium were printed in two languages - Flemish (Dutch) and French - the two official languages of Belgium. Hasbro maintained an office (production center?) in Brussels. Belgium was very noteworthy for its extremely well-organized G.I.Joe Fan Club. As a result, there are some extremely interesting promotional items that were produced in Belgium. The toys manufactured for sale in Belgium were of the same high quality as the U.S. versions. The plastic quality is indistinguishable from the U.S. versions. The packaging card stock was also of comparable quality. Note: Many of the Dutch language items below were also available in the Netherlands. |
