New G.I.Joe Cartoons on Video:
The tenth G.I.Joe cartoon video tape from Kid Rhino is now available for rental nationwide from Blockbuster Video stores, as part of Blockbuster's Kidmongous series of tapes. The tape includes the episodes-
- Cobra's Creatures
- Countdown for Zartan
- Cobra Soundwaves
- The Viper is Coming
- The Funhouse
The tape is available for rental now - but if you try to buy it now, the cost is $99.95. At some point in the near future, Blockbuster will reduce the price for sale.
If your local Blockbuster doesn't have the tape, ask them to order it for you. The UPC code is 603497004232, the Blockbuster part # is 817588, and the Kid Rhino part # is R3 970042.

NOTE: At least a few people have found the the Blockbuster-exclusive G.I.Joe tape in the Previewed section of Blockbuster for either $9.99 or $12.99. I've been told by Blockbuster employees that the Kidmongous videos are not supposed to be sold in the Previewed section of Blockbuster, but some stores do it anyways.
Hopefully this tape will be available for sale to the rest of us in the near future.
G.I.Joe Movie DVD at eToys:
The G.I.Joe Movie DVD was marked down at eToys, but it has since sold out.

G.I.Joe DVDs on the way:
The DVD news website, The Digital Bits reported on January 13th that Kid Rhino plans to release more G.I.Joe DVDs in 2001. The report can be found here.
While Kid Rhino hasn't officially confirmed it, they aren't denying it, either. Their email contact dr.rhino@rhino.com has only confirmed that-
- They do not know which specific episodes will be released on DVD at this time
- There will not be boxed sets
- The episodes will not be released in any specific order
This leads to speculation that Kid Rhino will release the cartoons in a "Best Of" format, like they have been with the G.I.Joe videos. There are those who are hoping that Kid Rhino will release G.I.Joe in order or in nicer quality boxed sets. Todd Bangerter informed me that Rhino.com's help page has some good and bad news for Sunbow fans. The Good: Rhino is currently working on a DVD box set for The Transformers (details about the set have not yet been finalized). The Bad: "no additional releases are planned for G.I.Joe."
However, don't panic! I've learned from Rhino that they have not abandoned the G.I.Joe DVD project. They simply don't have the discs on their production and marketing schedules yet.
