Description:

The MMS [Mobile Missile System] was first released boxed in U.S. toy stores in 1982. The box included the operator, Hawk.

In 1983, the action figures were re-tooled with swivel-arm battle grip. The MMS included the swivel-arm version of Hawk and the text on the front of the box reflected this change.

The MMS was discontinued in 1984. Left-over MMSs were sold by Hasbro Direct via mail-order from between 1985 and 1987.

This was the only version of the MMS ever released.

Driver/Pilot: Hawk

Hawk was one of the first figures released in the first series (1982). He came packaged exclusively with the G.I.Joe Mobile Missle System (MMS). Like all of the original sixteen figures, Hawk was first released with "straight arms" (v1) and then later released in 1983 with "swivel-arm battle grip" (v1.5). Click here for more on Hawk.

Easily Broken/Lost Pieces:

Take extra care with the rocket pod that holds the three missiles - it snaps onto the turret and can sometimes be found broken off.

Variations:

No variations of the MMS [Mobile Missle System] are known to exist.

Vehicle Construction:

The vehicle mold was repainted or retooled for the following vehicles:

• MMS (1982)
• S.M.S. (1985)

In Europe in 1984, the MMS was recolored in grey and black and released as the Action Force MMS.

In Canada in 1982, the MMS was recolored black and sold as part of the Sears Exclusive Cobra Combat Set - M.S.V..

The MMS was also repackaged in India by Funskool and included one random action figure.
