The Cobra Stun was first released boxed in U.S. toy stores in 1986. It included the driver, Motor Viper. The Stun was also sold in 1987 and was discontinued domestically in 1988.

Motor-Viper was released as part of the fifth series (1986), packaged exclusively with the Cobra Stun. He was also sold in 1987, then was discontinued domestically in 1988.
In 1989, the Motor-Viper was available mail-order from Hasbro Direct as part of the "Special Missions Drivers" set with Ace, Thunder, Lampreys, Keel-Haul, and Strato-Viper. In 1991 and 1992, Motor-Viper was available from Hasbro Direct as part of the "Cobra Patrol Unit" with Strato-Viper and a F.A.N.G. helicopter.
